Puerto Banus has been named one of the most sustainable marinas in Spain

A recent study conducted by the Sustainability Observatory identified the ten most significant ports in Spain, all of which are situated on the Mediterranean coast, known for its high demand. The two ports from the Malaga province that made the list were Puerto Deportivo de Estepona and Cívitas Puerto Banús. The other chosen ports across the country include Puerto Sotogrande (Cadiz), Marina de Valencia, Marina Port Ibiza, Marina Ibiza, Port Adriano (Mallorca), Puerto Portals (Mallorca), Real Club Náutico de Palma, and Marina Port Vell (Barcelona).
The study evaluated these ports' commitment to sustainability and their efforts to align with the United Nations' sustainable development goals as outlined in Agenda 2030.
Cívitas Puerto Banús stood out as the most exceptional marina for its achievements in directly conserving endangered marine species, such as the ferruginous limpet and other aquatic mammals. The study also recognised the marina's significant progress in advancing all of the UN's sustainable development goals.
Among the upcoming environmental initiatives planned by Cívitas Puerto Banús is a reforestation project aimed at revitalising a part of the urban forest within the Sierra de Mijas. This initiative underscores the marina's commitment to the planet, the local environment, the province, and its ongoing dedication to fulfilling sustainable development goals, which it has been actively pursuing for over four years. Benjamín Sánchez Morett, the head of the marina's sustainability and environment committee, emphasised this commitment to sustainability.
